Had a Dream About Meeting Someone Who Knew We Were Dreaming

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a dream I had a few months back that really stuck with me, and I’m curious to hear your thoughts or if anyone’s had a similar experience.

It started as a normal day at the mall, and we decided to go on a rollercoaster. The ride was taking forever to start, so I said something sarcastic to my sister-in-law, and we burst out laughing. Then, a guy in the carriage in front of me chimed in, and we started joking around, exchanging some light-hearted banter. When the ride finally started, I was disappointed to see that our carriages weren’t connected, so he left before us. I felt sad because I knew I was dreaming, and I realized I’d probably never see him again. I thought the dream would shift or take me somewhere else once the rollercoaster got going.

To my surprise, the rollercoaster went on until the ride ended, and I was even more surprised to see him standing there waiting for me. He asked if we could hang out, and we ended up walking around and talking for what felt like hours. During that time, I felt this deep, unreal connection with him—it was like we just understood each other effortlessly, and everything between us was so easy and natural.

As our time together was coming to an end, he said something that really shook me: “I really enjoyed the time we spent together, but I just can’t believe we had to meet in a dream.” I was shocked because I hadn’t realized he also knew we were dreaming. Immediately after that, everything started to fade, so I told him I was waking up… and then I did.

Has anyone else ever experienced a dream where someone else in it was also aware it was a dream? What do you think this dream could mean? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I get dreams which Your dream features long and seem to last forever. Very often these dreams occur when nothing much is going on in my life. I get them especially when I am looking at a long boring day ahead. I got such dreams which seem deep and meaningful during Covid when I was stuck at home on my own with little to entertain me other than the dreams I had. Such dreams are often simply entertainment to keep us going during days of isolation.

Notice that your dream features excitement and banter. Maybe the dream occurred at a time when you wanted excitement and banter but life was not satisfying such needs. The dream also has awareness of the dream state both from you and the person in the dream. Maybe thats a symbol for your imagination - the dreams meaning being that you wanted to fulfill some unmet desire.

However, it is unlikely that you will know what your state of mind was when you had the dream. Dreams are in the here and now and they often capture key feelings about the day before or feelings about the day to come.
