A Dream I had many times over when I was a child

I am playing in my garden, by the swing when I hear the loud sound of wingbeats.

I look up and a massive pelican is flying overhead. It’s 12 to 20 feet long.

As I watch it falls from the sky and lands partly on the lawn and partly on the path.

I rush over. It has a very substantial wound in its neck and is struggling to breathe.

I try to help it but it is fading from life.

I see my mum and dad standing by the house and I shout for them to come and help me.

But they just gaze into the distance.

I go back to trying to save it but feel I am failing.

Then I wake up.

How lonely your childhood feels from this dream, the symbolism in this dream speaks volumes to the independent nature and deep caring you have for yourself, and your shock at finding yourself rather alone in your struggles accepting that news. Loss is more of a struggle for you then it appears to others. A lovely and deep dream.

MistressLex , Thank you so much for your perceptive and very true reply.
It was my pleasure to read your share, thank you for doing so. And I hope you feel more sure footed in the knowlegde that though you struggle; those you help even though they suffer appreciate your generosity and strenght though they might not have realized or expressed it to you in ways your able to accept or acknowledge.
