Music in dreams.

Sometimes I hear music in my dreams, but it rarely seems to be notable and I don't always remember the songs when I wake up.

Recently I invented a song in my dream, and a music video to go with it! The artist is a musical improviser I sometimes see on Dropout named Zach Reino, and he was singing in a music video a song about joining congress. It was pretty weird. It's been driving me crazy that I only remember a few of the lyrics, something about going from the hay fields or corn fields to the capitol, and one specific line "make a cent, get into the government".

I suppose I dreamed this because I watched him on TV recently and have been inundated with political ads. But it was pretty cool that my subconscious wrote a song!

Fun theoretical question: Do you suppose that the entire song existed when I was dreaming, or is it possible that the parts I remember are the only parts my mind actually wrote?

Has anyone else made up a song while dreaming?

I've had those few rare experiences of inventing songs in dreams.

Sometimes, I had remembered lyrics in dreams, and after online searches of song lyrics, these dreamed lyrics didn't exist. Yet, the style of music was quite familliar.

The one memorable example was dreamed long ago - that is a dynamic female singer (1980s, 1990s) era created an excellent song regarding experiences with death, and dying. This was a song that was not that melancholy in tone, a song which appeared to have reached top-ten status in the adult contemporary category - a song often played on the radio.

* A similar song comes to mind that often shows up in my recommender algorithm of an app containing many songs: The 1976 Gordon Lightfoot song, 'The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald' - this was Lightfoot's tribute to the 29 crew members who died on a freighter in a 1975 Great Lakes storm.

Here is a unqiue dream experience of music in dreams. I had dreamed of key parts of the 1970s-era song, 'The Night The Lights Went-Out In Georgia' - by Vicki Lawrence. What was remarkable was this dream contained a reference to another 1970s-era singer, the late Helen Reddy - that is my dream experience felt that Helen Reddy sang, ''The Night The Lights Went-Out In Georgia' - that Reddy did not sing.

The setting where this dream took place was also notable - a place of what may best be described as part bed & breakfast decor vibe, part dorm-like location - a setting that I felt was heavily decorated like a holiday themed movie - minus.........the holiday themed decor!

I found myself orientating myself with such a place where two to three dozen adults resided. After walking around a place with such a novel, yet slightly complex layout, I don't remember finding washrooms/bathrooms, kitchens - all of the necessary mundane amenities.

I had found myself going to bed in a place where rooms where separated by place with maze-like layouts - hence, I was able to hear sounds from nearby rooms. As I was trying to fall asleep, all while mumbling to myself, "I just dropped into...........whatever interior designed/decorated place (I was at a loss of words to describe)."

The people were polite, the place was immaculate with fresh scents - that is people quieted down by the time we all went to sleep - except for about a half-dozen middle-aged ladies singing (the last voices that night) in a chorus, the words, "the night the lights went-out in Georgia." The chorus did an excellent rendition that both singers Vicki Lawrence, and Helen Reddy would have found impressive!
