My child knew something he shouldn't have known!

My kid is definitely not the spiritual type. He's 5 and firmly grounded in very boy things like racing, games, sports, etc. He's never done anything spooky, and believe me, I'd be on the outlook for it!!

But apparently at school, he knew about his teacher's pregnancy before she told anyone. I only just found out, but months ago one teacher found him crying happy tears on the playground. He said that it was because the other teacher had a baby in her belly. The first teacher didn't believe him, but played along and asked if it was a boy or a girl. He said a boy.

When she told the other teacher about it, that teacher was shocked because she really was pregnant. And when she found out the gender, it really was a boy.

Anyone else have experiences with kids randomly doing things like this? Especially if it seems to be a one-off?

yeah kids just. do that. according to our mother, we similarly predicted that a member of our extended family had passed (by name) minutes before she got a call saying as such, when we were very young. Im not sure why this happens. i think that the state of mind of a child is a good deal stranger than a lot of people like to acknowledge. When you don't know how the world works yet, and dont yet have a strong idea of what can/cant happen in it, the conscious/discerning mind doesn't do a lot of the filtering that it reflexively performs further on in life. You can tie that into whatever spiritual worldview you hold- info leaking into the subconscious from the collective unconscious, knowledge from past lives, what have you. im not very interested in trying to scramble together an explanation honestly. its strange, more than a bit unsettling, but ultimately harmless and inexplicably mundane in terms of how common these experiences are.

I always am curious about intuition and what the different is between how people experience it. And notice women and children seem too more.... i wonder why that is.

I think women often have no choice but to be hyper aware of their surroundings and the feelings and moods of those around them, for safety reasons. I think this can lead to deeper intuition at times. I think women are often more connected with their spiritual side as well, possibly because it's more accepted in women culturally.

Children I think just have no idea of what's possible and what's not. Maybe some of the limitations we live with are artificial?

Likely, shootingstar they are in part artifical. But I am curious as to how men view intiution and their own personal experiences with it. If they view it as women do, or do they give it a more practicle mindset... Im sure soldier or other jobs like firemen divers etc... have stories about vibes and just knowing.... Id be very curious about those stories.

You have a point, I have definitely generalized with men, but some of them must be in tune with their intuition too, like the jobs you describe. I know our current science mostly attributes these things to our subconscious mind noticing things our conscious minds do not. I'm curious if there's more to it than that. Or more things to pick up on than what we currently understand!

It would be neat to see men comment on intuition. Maybe we start a male intuition thread and get them to give out stories?
