Old junk car dream

Hello all. I just joined and this is my first post. In the dream I'm at a place I once worked at. In our yard I see an old 80s looking Cadillac, in horrible shape. One half of it is one color, the other half a different color. The interior is also real bad, I think it had no carpet, just bare floorboards. The car might have been a taxi, but that wasn't really important, nor was it the main point in the dream. Right before the dream ended, I saw written on the door large letters in cursive writing in quotation marks. The writing said
" Welcome to the party." Then I woke up around 4 AM I think, trying to figure it out.
BTW, I often have dreams of where I used to work, but that's for another thread (too much for this thread). Thanks for any responses!

Well met, Mike. This is one of those dreams that certainly seems loaded with you-specific imagery-with-a-purpose (symbolism), and while that's not my area of expertise, I will say that every bit of detail and impression/feeling helps. Any chance of remembering the car colors--it's like it was split into 2 past-purposes, which could be significant, along with the missing carpet ("down"-holstery, heh); not only can others with the reference books and training find more, it is also an exercise (detail recall) that I have found helps one prepare for even more involved/sophisticated/meaningful dreams.

Thanks Paul. I wanna say the colors were red/green or brown maybe, but it wasn't important to the dream from the impression I got. The words on the door seemed most important to me.

Oh, for sure, and if I hadn't been too distracted, I would have ended that first reply with a cheeky: "Welcome to the party." (hopefully others will see some insights from what you put, and as we practice dream recall and can remember more of them, it gives us much more to go on)

To me there are hints here that the Cadillac (yourself) is a fine vehicle, but needs some improvements. The party is life...what parts do we play and how to we bring our best selves?

Maybe. It reminds me of the dream where I'm opening a door, and there's another one behind that one, and so forth. Exploring my personality, or something related to it?

I think so. I think the dream is giving you rich, symbolic material to explore about your personality. It would be great to make a collage or painting, or write a poem.
