Those roadblock dreams

Does everyone have those dreams where they are trying to accomplish one thing and other things keep happening to prevent it? So frustrating!

I dreamed I was in my childhood home, trying to get ready to go to lunch with my mom and son. I don't even remember all the things that happened to prevent us from being ready. I just remember feeling more and more frustrated as it was getting later and later to leave. I remember being in the garage waiting on my mom, then I had to go upstairs to get something, and it just kept going.

Then the dream changed once we were in the car, my son disappeared, and my mom dropped me off at work. Some kind of fictional work, sort of an amalgam of my current job and one of my past jobs. And when I got there and she dropped me off, at first I was upset that I didn't have my earbuds (I listen to podcasts while I work) and then realized I didn't have my entire work bag, which included my laptop. They must have still been in her car. So I kept going to call her, when people kept interrupting me. I never did manage to call her before I woke up feeling full-body frustration.

Do we think these types of dreams signify anything in particular? And if so, are they directly related to the people, places, and events within the dreams or are they touching on a general feeling of frustration or lack of progress? I definitely have a dream with this structure every few months or years, though the events of the dream are always different.

Hello Shootingstar; where you waiting with your son in the garage for your mom arriving in a car?

No, my mom was upstairs in the house while we were down in the garage. We were waiting for her to come down so we could get in the car and go to lunch somewhere.

Of course, you were in the garage waiting with your son! But there is real genaral "amalgam" conflict going on here as you said and express it about your job: you should be in charge of the vehicle ( the mobile house) of your live path and having your toolbox at your disposal and that is not the case. Strange anough your 'mother is (still) in charge while you (should) have your son with you (this is kind of an imperfect amalgam of adult live and your childhood) !

publish two other dreams of these kind just the way you exactly remember them (without extra comments but with the smallest details or feelings).

I don't always recall the specifics of these dreams for a long time after, but one I recall I was constantly late for work and couldn't get there. I was trying to walk or get a ride, but various things kept happening to derail me from my goal. I kept seeing the time getting later and later and I wasn't there. This one took place at a different job, and as far as I know I never arrived at my workplace before waking up. I remember being on the street, frustrated, trying to walk to work, and seeing how it was well past my start time.

I have had others where I'm trying to find a bathroom, trying to find my car and drive home, trying to take a shower, etc. Hard to remember specifics, but the feeling of fighting against constant disruptions and being sidetracked is what I recall best. I have wondered if the dreams are about the specifics contained within them or just about the general feeling of struggle and not being able to meet a goal or get to where I want/need to be.

These can be read a number of ways. the obvious one is a manifestation of anxiety. Another is that they are representing a dissatisfaction with the monotony of ones everyday life, which might feel like an arbitrary sequence of time wasting tasks, obstacles, etc.

My last dream was related looking though caves and finding metal walls and not being able to get to the area I needed to greatfully i seemed to be abe to see in the dark... but it felt like something was keeping me away from my goal
