Words from Dietrich Bonhoeffer...real psychology...

Over time, in our responses to people and situations, we build up a body of knowledge that can help us to make fruitful judgments and decisions in the present. Yet we always need to regard the wisdom of the past as a reservoir rather than as a set of prescriptive rules. Lessons learned from the past are valuable only if they are applied to the present with sensitivity, flexibility, and grace. It is important that we seek to apply the past, not attempt to recreate it.

No..but a need to rebuild in a healthier manner. The lesson of the past need application when needed. But no one should suffer in the past for the sake of memories or suffering. It should be fodder for growth never stagnation.
